Prevention.
How thoroughly are most sports people examined prior to performing their sports activity. Lack of symptoms is the least reliable indicator that function is impaired to a minor level.
A myriad of dysfunctions including spinal distortion, muscle weakness, reduced neurologic responses, reduced balance abilities, range of motion restriction and muscular hypertonicity among others maybe present and be non-symptomatic at the same time.
Often when minor symptoms are displayed, they are often ignored.
Non-symptomatic and mildly symptomatic issues can lead to injury and reduced performance.
Also consider that these concepts are not taken into consideration by many coaches or therapists when an injury does happen.
Post-injury treatment
Extensive testing at this clinic shows where hidden weaknesses occur in strength, movement and balance in an injury situation. We will able to ascertain how much each of the factors of tissue damage, inflammation and neuro-muscular spasm are involved which will guide the best mode of treatment.
Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
Histological studies have shown that the results from LLLT post tissue damage injury produce better rates of recovery than cryotherapy or use of ice. Tissue samples regenerate with less incidence of scar tissue.
LLLT also works to reduce muscle spasm, inflammation and neurologic hypersensitivity.
Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation (IASTM)
Old injuries can create new injuries. This happens where the scar tissue created by an old area of tissue damage may cause weakening and restriction of motion. This in turn can create a stress point which is more liable to fail again AND reduces performance.
IASTM may reduce the incidence of scar tissue to improve the tissue function.
Quantum Neurology® Neurological Rehabilitation Technique
The intention of this technique is to improve strength, motion patterns by stimulating the nervous system. Various weaknesses may exist in these patterns without the subject realising it. This technique uses testing to find these issues which may be a factor in the injuries occurring.
